Our research addresses the role of lamin A in the regulation of pathophysiological processes and the mechanisms that accelerate cardiovascular disease and aging in patients with Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS), a rare genetic disease caused by progerin, a mutant form of lamin A which is also expressed at low level in tissues from non-HGPS subjects. Our experimental strategy involves a multifaceted approach that combines in vitro, cellular, animal and human studies and a variety of technologies, including mouse genetic engineering, proteomics, transcriptomics, FRET, confocal microscopy, in vivo invasive and non-invasive imaging.
Molecular and cellular techniques and methodologies to study cardiovascylar disease using cellular and animal models and analysis of human samples.
