Participation in Working Groups

  • WG1 - Biophysics of cell and tissue structure

Research Interests

I am interested in the mechanics of single intermediate filaments (especially vimentin and keratin) and interactions between single intermediate filaments and other cytoskeletal filaments, e.g. microtubules. I am also interested in the cyclic loading of single intermediate filaments.

Technologies offered to other EuroCellNet participants

Application of optical tweezers, atomic force microscopy, total internal reflection microscopy, handling of cytoskeletal filaments in vitro (keratin, vimentin, microtubules), theoretical modeling and simulations.

Technologies sought from other EuroCellNet participants

Expertise in handling other intermediate filament proteins (e.g. GFAP), expertise of the behavior and properties of intermedite filaments in vivo, expertise about other important proteins interacting with intermediate filaments (e.g. Heat Shock Proteins).
